Dual Flame: Compact Cooking System for the Outdoors
2023
Concept Development
Self-Initiated Project
Dual Flame is a compact, modular camping stove system designed to give outdoor users the freedom to cook in any condition. Created as a self-initiated project by Madcat Design House, the system integrates two fuel options - a gas canister burner and a solid-fuel chamber, both within a single portable unit. When disassembled, the outer shell transforms into a pan and pot set, forming an all-in-one cooking solution that minimizes bulk without compromising capability.
What we did
Explored the landscape of outdoor cooking equipment through independent research and field observation.
Identified key user challenges such as inconsistent fuel access, storage limitations, and equipment redundancy.
Defined a product vision centered on versatility, compactness, and long-term durability.
Designed a unified system where fuel flexibility and cookware integration coexist within a minimal footprint.
How we did it
Conducted comprehensive market and user research to map real-world needs and gaps in existing stove systems.
Moved through structured ideation, sketching, and concept refinement to establish a cohesive design direction.
Developed detailed CAD models, focusing on portability, thermal performance, and component efficiency.
Built and tested a series of in-house 3D-printed prototypes to evaluate ergonomics, assembly logic, and scale accuracy.
Refined the final form to balance engineering rigor with everyday simplicity, resulting in a product that feels both functional and quietly confident in its design.
